民意を弾圧し、７万本以上の砂杭を大浦湾に打ち込む！
生物多様性の豊かな海を破壊する政府に抗議の声をあげよう！

これまで県民投票や知事選挙でなんども沖縄県は辺野古新基地建設に反対してきました。しかし
日米両政府は、沖縄の民意を無視し、沖縄の自治権をうばって、８月から辺野古大浦湾の本格的な
工事を始めるという。辺野古大浦湾は世界的にも貴重な生物多様性の豊かな海で、2019年に世界
のNGOが「ホープ・スポット」(希望の海)と認定しました。海洋生物5300種を数え、ジュゴン
やサンゴ、アオウミガメなど262種絶滅危惧種が住む自然豊かな海です。
さらに大浦湾には、二つの活断層があり、90メートルに及ぶ軟弱地盤が横たわっています。そこに70メートル
までの砂杭を７万本以上打ち込む改良工事で基地を造るという。1800メートルのＶ字の滑走路に軍艦
も横づけできる米軍基地です。「普天間基地の一日も早い危険性の除去」の代替施設として辺野古
新基地は建設されているが、完成するのは12年後で「一日も早い危険性の除去」は真っ赤なウソ
です。専門家からは地盤沈下も指摘されています。近くには弾薬庫もありますが、辺野古新基地は
耐震レベル１の設計! 日本の主だった13の空港はレベル２の大地震対応です。沖縄近海でも大
規模な地震が起こる可能性が指摘されており、レベル１の地震対応では非常に危険です。
辺野古の座り込みがはじまって10年。辺野古の浜の座り込みは20年以上。日本の0.6％の沖縄
に 70％以上の米軍基地 がひしめき、環境破壊・事件・事故・米兵による性暴力！いつまで沖縄は基
地被害に苦しめられるのでしょうか。「新基地建設反対」「ガザ虐殺ヤメロ」「生物多様性の辺野古
の海を壊すな」と声を上げましょう!

and to Drive More Than 70,000 Sand Piles into Oura Bay!
Let's Raise our Voice of Protest against the Government Destroying the Sea of Biodiversity!

Okinawa prefecture has shown its opposition to the construction of the new Henoko military base so many times
as in its referendums and gubernatorial elections. However, the Japanese and U.S. governments have ignored the
will of the Okinawan people and taken away the rights of self-government. Moreover, they are going to begin full-
scale construction of Henoko Oura Bay in this August. Henoko Oura Bay is globally known as a valuable sea, rich in
biodiversity and then recognized as a "Hope Spot(Sea of Hope)" by global NGOs in 2019. It is a sea rich in
natur?, home to 5,300 species of marine life and 262 endangered species, including dugongs, corals, and green sea
turtles.
In addition, there are two active faults, and 90 meters depth of soft ground lies in Oura Bay. To construct the
U.S. military base, more than 70,000 sands piles are to be driven into the ground up to 70 meters depth-still 20
meters are missing. The base will have 1,800-meter V-shaped runway and a port where huge warships can remain.
Though Japanese government says the new Henoko base is to be built as an alternative "to eliminate the danger of
the Futenma base as soon as possible", it will not be completed until 12 years from now. So Japanese government
saying is a complete lie! Experts have also pointed out that the land will sink. There are ammunition depots nearby.
The new Henoko base is designed to be earthquake resistant only level 1, even though 13 major airports in Japan
are designed for level 2 at least. It has been pointed out that there is a possibility of a large-scale earthquake in the
seas around Okinawa, and an airport of such a weak earthquake response (level 1) is extremely dangerous.
It has been 10 years since the Henoko Sit-in began. The Henoko Beach Sit-in has been going on for more than
20 years. More than 70% of the U.S. military bases are crammed in Okinawa, which is just 0.6% area of the country.
The military bases are causing environmental destruction, incidents, accidents, and sexual violence by U.S. soldiers.
How long will Okinawa continue to suffer from the damage by the military violence? Let's raise our voices louder
against the construction of the new base, against the genocide in Gaza and against the destruction of the biodiverse
Henoko Sea!
